Situated on the Strip in Las Vegas, Paradise of Nevada, Paris Vegas is a casino and hotel. Harrahs Entertainment is the owner and the operator of the hotel. As indicated by the name of the hotel, the theme of the hotel is based on the city of Paris in France. The hotel has a half scaled, 541 foot tall duplicate of the Eiffel tower, a replica of La Fontaine des Mers, two-third sized replica of Arc de Triomphe, a sign resembling the shape of Montgolfier balloon and also a theatre known by the name Le Theatre des Arts which can seat 1200. The hotel’s front would remind you of the Louvre museum in Paris and the Paris Opera House.

There is a promenade which connects the Paris Las Vegas hotel and casino with the Bally’s Las Vegas, a sister property. And thus it is further connected to the Monorail of Las Vegas.

Ballys Entertainment was the first to announce the project of this hotel. Bally’s Entertainment is also the owner of the adjacent property Bally’s Las Vegas. Leidenfrost/ Horowitz & Assoc., Bergman, Walls & Assoc., MBH Architects Newport Beach office are the architects involved in the designing of this structure. It was on 17th April 1997, when the ground was broken to build this hotel and casino. The inauguration of the hotel happened on 1st September, 1999. There were fireworks during the opening ceremony shot from the replica of Eiffel tower. Catherine Deneuve, a French actress, turned on all the lights of the hotel by flipping a switch, including the crystal chandeliers in the main lobby. The architect was Bergman Walls Associates.

Hilton hotels bought Bally’s Entertainment in the year 1996 and they started building the hotel. The casinos of Hilton were spun off subsequently into Park Place Entertainment. They bought Caesars World in 2000 and the name changed to Caesars Entertainment in the year 2004.

They were planning to build the Eiffel tower to match the original one in size. But since the airport was very close to the hotel, they had to shrink the tower to half the size of the original. The scale is more or less 1:2. The hotel is situated on 24 acres land and it cost around 785 million dollars to build the Paris Las Vegas.

There is a distinct aspect of architecture in the Paris Las Vegas hotel. The replica of the Eiffel tower’s back legs come into the floor of the casino through the ceiling.

Sports book of Paris Las Vegas was shut down temporarily in November of 2006, as there was an investigation pending on the employees of the hotel, with regards to underreporting of tips.

The show, The Producers, which was headlined by David Hasselhoff was a new show premiered in the year 2007 by Paris Las Vegas. There were some issues with Hasselhoff not showing up for the shows earlier. The same was later fixed when he left the show. The focus on the show shifted to the character Max, which was played by Tony Danza. He showed up as the celebrity actor on this show till it ended in February of 2008. The contract of Barry Manilow with the Hilton is expiring and he will be joining Paris Las Vegas as the headline for their shows.

In order to fight the global economic recessing during 2008 and 2009, Harrah entertainment incorporation concentrated on marketing their properties to certain sections of the population. This is the reason why Paris Vegas Hotel and casino is being marketed towards the lesbian and gay travelers heavily.
