Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS) had planned to open its Singapore Casino Resort in the first quarter of 2010. However on Thursday a company spokesman announced that the $5.5 billion Asian expansion would be opening in phases.
In July the gaming company had said that every effort was being made to open Marina Bay Sands by February 2010, although original plans called for an opening by the end of 2009.
The company would not commit to a specific opening date at Thursday’s press release, however according to Reuters a source close to the company said that it would be closer “toward the end of March.”
The projects first phase opening will include the casino, a portion of the retail venues and some meeting and convention space.
Sands anticipates being able to open the remaining hotel towers, retail space and the featured Sky Park within 60 days after the completion of phase one.
The final phase opening will be for the remaining attractions including the theaters and museum by the end of 2010.
