Planet HollywoodBook this hotel

Planet Hollywood Vegas, currently owned by Harrah’s Entertainment was formerly known as The Aladdin and is located on the Las Vegas Strip.

In 1963, the hotel was opened for the first time as Tally-Ho. It was renamed as King’s crown in 1964 but failed to get a gaming license. Milton Prell purchased the hotel in 1966, renovated it, and also included the “Baghdad Theatre” which can seat 500 people.

The Aladdin
On 1st of April in 1966, when The Aladdin opened, the guests were greeted with flower petals showering on them from the ceiling. One of them was Warren Richards, the composer-pianist. Jackie Mason was included in the opening entertainment of the hotel.

Three different shows were offered twice nightly in the Baghdad Theatre. There was a golf course with 9 holes in the hotel. The hotel hosted the wedding of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, a year after the opening.

A complete renovation was made to the Sinbad lounge in the year 1969 and the hotel was given a new makeover. It was in the same year, when Parvin Dohrmann took over the hotel. The hotel was then sold under the name of Recrion corporation to Sam Diamond, Peter Webbe, Sorkis Webbe and Richard Daly. The new owners gave another face lift to the hotel where a performing arts center replaced the golf course.

The singer Neil Diamond performed two shows when The Aladdin reopened in the year 1976. The resort was sold to Wayne Newton (owner from 1980 to 1982) and Ed Torres later. The resort again closed in the year 1997 and in 1998, the entire structure was broken down except for the performing arts center to make way for a new casino.

The new resort
When the new Aladdin was scheduled to open in 2000, the opening was delayed by the Clark county building inspector who was checking the fire safety system. It was further delayed for repairs to the casino surveillance. Many guests were left homeless on the opening night and a lot of people left home in disappointment. The opening happened the next day morning. But it was again followed by the march of union workers who were protesting its opening. The financial situation was not very good from the beginning. The hotel was again sold out to Planet Hollywood and Starwood Hotels & Resorts worldwide in 2003.

After many renovations, the casino and resort opened under the name of Planet Hollywood in 2007.
